newton and my stripes

Two of my favorite things: Sir Isaac Newton, and one of three striped fisherman sweaters I designed at American Apparel. I can't believe how lucky I am sometimes, I am thankful everyday I am surrounded by the best people and I get to do what I love. People often think success is measured by dollar amounts. Especially within the art/fashion/blog realm I've come across countless people, all the same with interchangeable faces who consider themselves successful because they've been able to fool others into thinking they're 'cool', 'famous', and 'rich'. It's really more about being able to wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and see a person who you truly like and to be honestly excited to be who you are.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

{ versioning } black skirt / white shirt

as i get a little older (and a LOT busier), my style seems to be getting more streamlined and defined. along the way, i've come to understand the value of truly great basics, and on mornings when i'm pressed for time, a black skirt + white shirt combo never fails me. i love that the look can be taken in so many different directions! here are a few iterations that i hope might inspire you to think of ways to elevate your own plain jane faves:

VERSION I // ruffled blouse + leather skirt
{ elizabeth + james sunnies, self-made necklace, theory blouse, h+m skirt (recently seen HERE), marc by marc jacobs clutch, stuart weitzman shoes }

VERSION II // man's shirt + fringed skirt
{ lanvin for h+m sunnies, american apparel shirt, (borrowed from the boys), vintage embroidery-turned-brooch, coach classics bag, primary skirt, banana republic socks, corello shoes }

VERSION III // polo shirt + knit skirt
{ vintage yves saint laurent sunnies from ebay, american apparel polo shirt (as above, it's from the men's department), zara skirt (i'm also lusting after THIS SIMILAR STYLE), vintage studio ferre belt, michael kors watch, banana republic socks, loeffler randall boots }

my halloween costumes for american apparel

Halloween costumes designed, made, styled and shot by me for American Apparel. A project like this entails a lot of craziness like 4am bodysuit bedazzeling, bargaining with feather salesmen, 6 glue gun burns and a crap ton of paper cuts, coordinating a bazillion models, barely sleeping, being elbowed in the face by Denni, and attempting to be a dog whisperer. I think i made a bit of improvement since last year's halloween. I really love my job, and I'm thankful I get to do what I do. I hope this helps inspire you for your costumes this year!
