Camilla Norrback Sample Sale- Stockholm

Just a quick note to let you know that if you're in Stockholm, the company that I'm working at now, Camilla Norrback, is hosting their seasonal sample sale.  Prices start at 100 kr, and there's plenty of super-discounted warm and fuzzy knits that would make a great Christmas gift for yourself, or more generously, someone else.  Additionally, the current Fall collection will be discounted 50%. Make sure to stop by sometime this weekend for some glogg and shopping; the store is at Norrbacksgatan 60, and will be open tomorrow and Sunday from 12-5.

Issey Miyake TriBeCa 10th Anniversary

On my last night in New York, I stopped by the Issey Miyake TriBeCa store to celebrate their 10th Anniversary with my two favorite boys (outside of my husband), Brandon and Izzy.  Special Birthday shirts were printed up for the occasion, glittering profiteroles were served, and there was a mini-runway show featuring looks from the Spring 2012 collection.  The bloom-inspired pieces blossomed off the body echoing the shapes of petals.  However, my favorite pieces were the electric colored leggings, that were actually made of different colors of cut-out fabric layered on top of one another.  Of course, a night at Issey wouldn't be complete without some of his signature fragrance, which I managed to spill all over myself before the night was complete.  I wasn't one of the lucky few to win a Bao Bao bag (although Brandon walked away with one), so at least I will have something to remember the night with now that I am far away in Sweden!

CALLING ALL PANDAS, MONSTERS AND ZOMBIES

In case you haven't heard, the Nicola Formichetti store opened in the middle of fashion week, with a big ol' steamy party full of assorted pandas, monsters, and zombies, all hoping to catch a glimpse of Nicola.  Launched as part of BOFFO's Building of Fashion program, Nicola collaborated with Gage/Clemenceau Architects to build the mirror-covered space, which looks a bit like an imploding Bucky ball. It also resembles the famous Telephone Hat that Lady Gaga wore in the Telephone music video, which happens to be on prominent display, along with several other infamous Gaga outfits.  As if being surrounded with a million reflections of yourself wasn't overstimulating enough, there are strobe lights strategically placed around, so the entire interior is constantly flashing and reflecting a trillion watts of lights. Obviously not built for the seizure prone.

Anyway, Christina and I are really proud to have Triskaidekaphobia on sale at the store, alongside some of our besties like Chrishabana and Zana BayneThe store is only open until September 21st, so hurry down to check it out before it all disappears!

Best Blog...By A Dog

Bianca, with a portrait in her likeness. All photos by Eponymy.

I've been in a terribly foul mood for the last couple of days, hence the lack of blogging, or interest in anything except for alternatively toxifying myself with massive amounts of caffeine and chocolate and detoxifying myself with long stretches of yoga. For a moment this afternoon though, things took a turn for the brighter. Christina and I visited one of the stores we sell Triskaidekaphobia at, Eponymy, which not only is an adorable place to shop, but is home to the sweetest, friendliest, and prettiest French Bulldog, Bianca. Bianca, who is a model, muse, gal about town, and therapy dog in training, provided twenty minutes of pure playful bliss, making me think that I need to sign up for some of her therapy sessions as soon as she is certified. Since I could not take Bianca home with me, I was delighted when Bianca's mommy, Andrea, told me that Bianca has a newly minted blog, Lady Bianca Miller, where you can follow her photos, thoughts, and style musings, all written with far more wit and humor than most of the blogs by her human it-girl counterparts. Take a click--or better yet, stop by the store and grab a cuddle while you shop--I promise, it will make your day!

Hanging with her mommy, Andrea Miller, owner of Eponymy, and sleb friends Jason and Arrow Schwartzman

Life: Curated Stockroom Sale!

I've been working a lot this week, but just wanted to write a quick note to let all you New Yorkers know that my dear friends at Life: Curated are having their first ever stockroom sale! Full disclosure: I'm a little biased because they're friends, and they also carry Triskaidekaphobia. Nonetheless, they also carry plenty of other fantastic goods, for both your closet and your home, including favorite friends like 80%20, Mary Meyer, Obesity and Speed, and Mike Gonzalez. I love them all, and even though I am totally cash poor from hitting up all the sample sales that have been happening this month, I'm planning on stopping by--I have my eyes on some Suki Cheema pillows! Everything will be at least 50% off or more, and for a sneak preview, you can check out some of the featured sale items on the Life: Curated blog. For those of you who aren't in NYC, sit tight, their online store is coming!

Stop Teasing Me So Bad

Bernhard Willhelm dress. All photos from Maryam Nassir Zadeh.

Not a day goes by without me asking myself why I'm not a millionaire already. I don't need a fancy car, a giant house, or a private jet. I don't even need many more things. I just would like to be able to afford all those gorgeous clothes I spend all day and night dreaming about but can never actually buy, the ones that feel like out-of-reach museum objects that are guarded jealously by boutique keepers who stare you down while you paw at their wares with dirty hands. Bernhard Willhelm's collections always embody everything I love, but cannot afford. Yesterday I received an email from Maryam Nassir Zadeh, one of my favorite stores on the Lower East Side, announcing the arrival of the latest collection, which might be my favorite yet. Melding his assymmetrical and off-kilter silhouettes with mesmerizing watercolor prints and over-saturated hues, it hit all the high notes that I look for in clothes these days, and the multi-colored poncho dress might be the gown of my dreams. Sadly, everything hovers around $1000, and like the grapes dangling over Tantalus, the clothes are out of my reach. When I do get around to winning the lottery/robbing a bank/whatever, this will be the first place I stop at for a shopping spree. In the meantime I will have to satisfy myself with staring at these photos and hoping that they jump off my computer screen and make their way to me.
